Best way to spike my hair?

i have really thin hair that is about 3-4 inches long and i want to spike my hair in like....8 individual spikes all over my head. I've done this before but it took a REALLY long time. Last time i think i got out of the shower...left my hair wet, put on my clothes, and then did it, but it took forever to do each spike with gel cuz they kept falling down, but it worked eventually. Would it help if i dried my hair first? then tried to put the spikes up when my hair isnt wet? i think the wetness is what was causing the gel not to hold and my hair to fall down but idk lol

I've heard about punk kids using egg whites or Elmer's glue to hold their spikes.

If thats a bit hardcore for you, I'd try this: make sure your hair is COMPLETLY dry before starting. Use a very liberal amount of hair gel, spike, then (while still holding on to your hair) blast your hair with some hair spray (Aqua-Net has insane holding power)

use hair gel

Dry your hair first. Then put gel in.

hair gel isn't meant to be applied to wet hair like hair mousse is but that really depends on the brand and what individual stylists recommend. since you haven't got thick hair which needs taming i would suggest that you let your hair dry and then try styling. your hair wont be as thin as when it is wet and the dryness will help with keeping the spikes up. also use vo5 styling spray for that extra hold.
