I am young and my hair keeps falling out. What factors such as diet, care etc. promote or impede hai

I am 21 years old and I have very thin hair. As a woman it makes me feel self conscience and being a young woman makes matters worse. I have very beautiful, curly, brown hair and I am afraid that I will be bald by the time I am in my forties. What sorts of things affect hair growth or loss? What can I do to make my hair grow faster or stop falling out. I am not sure if it's because I wash my hair too much or not enough; or if it's because of my diet or how I style my hair. Does anybody have any advice or experience??

my hair use to shed a lot...all i have done to stop the process is eat more green leafy veggies...also drink lots of water it helps to keep the hair moisturized, also u can give yourself head massages which helps blood circulation causing your hair to grow faster, keep your hair trimmed about every other month because if your ends are split your hair will keep shedding and never grow.

How much hair do you shed every day? What you think might be a lot may just be regular... people can lose up to a 100 hairs a day. However, if you're truly balding and see actual bald spots, then you might want to go to a dermatologist to see if you actually have some type of condition.

Diet does affect hair growth, but it usually doesn't have THAT much of an impact as long as you're eating relatively healthily...

Washing every day is fine, too. Most people DO wash every day, but if you think that may be the problem, then wash every other day. Also, conditioner MAY be too strong for your hair. I shed like crazy if I use conditioner, so I only use Dove Shampoo (I shave with the conditioner). Then, when my hair is semi-dry, I spritz some Ion Leave-In Conditioner Spray onto a comb (NOT a brush), and comb through my hair. That's another thing... try using a comb instead of a brush.

I personally lose a LOT of hair every day, and I still have a healthy head of hair, so don't worry too much. Stress can affect hair growth, too!

For hair to grow in thick and healthy, you need a lot of protein because that is what it's (for the most part) made up of. There are over-the-counter protein pills that you can take to improve hair growth. However, this increases growth all over, not just on your head. You'll have to pluck your eyebrows more and shave more. Just FYI.

There are several factors that can effect the growth or loss of your hair: your stress level, your diet, the products you put in your hair, if you use a lot of heated tools on your hair (irons, blow dryers, etc.), and the chemical services you have done to your hair.

You should only wash your hair when it looks dirty. For most people that is not every day. Shampoo strips your hair of it's natural oils. Conditioner puts new oils in. If you wash every day it's too stressful on your locks.

Don't pull your hair back into tight pony tails, this rips out your hair.

If it's heredity, there's not much you can do other than medicinal remedies. (Rogaine, etc.)

I hope this helps.

My hair has been doing the same thing since I was around 20. I'm now 26 and it's gotten worse every year. It could be a number of different things.... your diet (not eating enough).... the way you style your hair.... or genetics. The best thing to do would be to see your Doctor. It could be something even worse like a thyroid problem..... if it's not a medical condition like this then your Doctor will probably recommend you seeing a Dermatologist.

you shouldn't wash your hair more than every other day. some women have naturally thin hair but it doesn't mean your hair will fall out. however, you should make sure to get lots of protein to keep hair strong so it won't break and also omega 3 (in salmon or salmon pills) because it keeps your hair shiny and healthy. don't wear your ponytail too tight and make sure your scrunchies are scrunch free. if it really starts to fall out alot, you have to see a doctor but usually keeping a good diet will help.

That so heartbreaking. Hairstylists know so many reasons why, genetics, lack of blood flow, environment contamination, water supplies.....

The plain hard facts is that this must absolutely start with your doctor. Balding/Thinning, ridges in nails can specifically point to a medical condtition....I could throw out several different types of balding but until we find the reason, don't start putting chemicals on your head.....

I am aware of several cases that stress was the underlying factor but I don't even pretend to know.....

Once you see a doctor, ask for a specific diagnosis, please email me and maybe I can be of further assistance.....

Although pro stylists are aware of these conditions, we are not trained to diagnose....Please trust me on this one...

Please let me know....

Thinning hair is usually hereditary from the mothers side. It effects men at a higher percentage but it does effect women. Keeping your scalp healthy is very important for this situation. Roots die because of lack of circulation and lack of oxygen. When washing hair, use a good clarifying shampoo and massage your scalp as you shampoo. This increases the circulation of blood to the roots and scalp. Shampoo daily and a heavy conditioner is not a good idea as it could block pores on the scalp. Also stay away from too much product that might coat your scalp.

Also, there are great vitamins at your local pharmacy to nourish your scalp and hair from the inside out. There are some that concentrate on just hair, skin and nails which would be ideal. Gelatin is something to add to your diet, as it provides nourishment to those areas. Also, eat healthy, avoid greasy foods, and exercise is always a good idea-it increases your circulation.

Get Nixon shampoo and sclap therapy, it will promote new thicker hair growth. As far as the reason everyone looses hair but if you think yours is going overboard some medications alter the growth and your thyroid. Maybe go to your doctor and get a check-up and blood work, just to make sure nothing major is wrong. If you live somewhere where its cold then it wont grow as much as it would if it was warmer.

That happens to me...That happends when my hair is dry so you should get hydrating moisturizing shampoos and conditioners.... Also try having more vitamin C in your diet.... Check out rogan for women ...it makes your hair less likley to fall out.

Also try scalp treatment shampoos and avoid gels and hairsprays.

Eat more healthy foods, you might be under too much stress, use a different kind of hair shampoo/conditioner...

Go to a beauty salon that sells Nioxin...use it. It's kinda spendy but it helps rebuild your hair follicles and stimulate new growth.
