Making hair appear thicker by cutting it?

My mom has had the same hairstyle for ages and now she is willing to change it. She has really thin hair and i was wondering if there was some certain way the she could get her hair cut that would make it appear thicker than it is. She DOESN'T want to change shampoos, conditioners, and hairspray. And she doesn't want to add anything more than that. (she hates spending too much time in the mirror)

Her hair is light brown with blonde-ish highlights, she has bangs that are right above her eyebrows, and her hair is long (down to the middle of her back)

So if you have any ideas on how to cut it or part it or anything along those lines then please tell me! Thanks!

The perfect solution is to get it layered dramatically - just lots of layers. The great thing about it is that with lots of layers, it looks thick, and bonus! she gets to keep the length if she wants to.
